My Work in Vienna: Successful Installation at Galerie Artziwna
I am very pleased to announce the successful installation of my large-format work “Where are they?” (oil on acrylic-sea-salt-based canvas) from my “Paper Dolls” series at the renowned Galerie Artziwna on Herrengasse in Vienna.
The current installation places my work within a dynamic, museum-like dialogue with contemporary sculptural works by artists such as Wander Bertoni and Rudolf Schwaiger.
Under the gallery’s exhibition lighting, the alchemical painting technique I developed unfolds its full tactile effect: The complex sea-salt-based undercoat, which I wash out after it dries, forms the foundation for that singular depiction of skin that art critic Dr. Peter Funken once praised as “an adventure in the realm of skin.” Thematically, the work explores the fragmentation of the body and plays with the male and female gaze. My isolated, red-and-white-striped dress—an iconic signature motif that has consistently accompanied my work since 2008—contrasts with the floating legs, freed from footwear, whose positions are fixed in space along fan-shaped timelines.
